Our adventure commences at Poiana Buhacu (Glajarie), the designated parking area where we will also manage the natural park entry fee (please note, a 10-lei fee grants 3 months of validity). From here, we embark upon the marked forest road, following the distinctive blue stripe trail, which leads us deep into the serene woodlands. While our path will eventually cross with the Blue Cross route, originating from Diham Cabin, we remain committed to the blue stripe, pressing onward for an estimated two hours until we reach the welcoming Malaiesti Hut (Cabana Malaiesti) at 1720 meters altitude. Here, we’ll pause to replenish our energy, perhaps indulging in a slice of chocolate cake and refreshing water, preparing ourselves mentally and physically for the formidable ascent to Bucsiu Peak, standing tall at 2492 meters.
Departing from Malaiesti Hut, our journey continues along the challenging Red Triangle route, guiding us towards Saua Malaiesti and then further to “La Perpeleac”. This segment requires approximately 45 minutes of focused trekking, offering another opportune moment for a brief rest on a conveniently placed bench. The subsequent climb to Bucsiu Peak (Vf. Bucsiu) presents a significant challenge. Its steep inclination, combined with rocky terrain and sections secured with chains, demands a cautious and measured ascent. We will proceed at a deliberate pace, incorporating regular breaks to ensure safety and conserve energy.

The segment from “La Perpeleac” to Saua Braului Caprelor, situated at 2285 meters, will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Following this, only a short distance remains to achieve our ultimate objective: the summit of Bucsiu Peak at 2492 meters. Our descent and return to the parked vehicles will meticulously follow the same scenic and challenging trail.
